An Introduction to Conveyancing in the UKYou might wonder what conveyancing really is. Well, it comes from the root word convey which means to move something. It is more of transporting a thing from one place to that of another.   In the world of real estate though, conveyancing means a different thing. It is the transfer of ownership. How is the process done in the UK? Here are some facts.   A Brief History   Conveyancing started as early as 1290. Back then, the entire process was too tedious in that there were many documents required in the transfer of property ownership. A change was made in 1857 when the Real Property Act was launched. Now, a new system is adapted making the steps less taxing than the so-called old system title.   Types of Processes   Basically, there are three types for the process. These are the pre-contract stage, pre-completion stage and post completion stage. In between these steps are two more vital processes. The first one is the contract exchange and the transfer of title.   The Importance of Solicitors in the Process   Conveyancing can be very taxing. It is for this reason that you need to hire a solicitor. He takes charge of the legal requisites in the process. He can also draft a contract when you need one.   These are just some of the basics of conveyancing in the UK. There is much more to read about when you are after property transfers.
