Library for Iranian Studies is a major Persian library in Acton district of London, England. It has over 30,000 books in the Persian language, as well as English and other languages. The library receives no governmental funding and is voluntary controlled.[1].
Between Acton Town and Hammersmith District line trains serve all stations, but Piccadilly line trains run non-stop to Hammersmith except for calling at Turnham Green at the start and end of the day. West of Acton Town, District line trains go via Ealing Common to Ealing Broadway and Piccadilly line trains run either via South Ealing to Heathrow, or via Ealing Common to Uxbridge.
The South Acton station on the District line of the London Underground was located adjacent to South Acton station on the North London Line on the north-west side of the tracks.
The second bridge was designed by James Paine and constructed of brick and stone in 1788. This bridge was painted by Turner in 1805 following his sketching tour of the river Thames and Wey at that time. The bridge lasted much longer that its predecessor, but part of it collapsed in 1859. A ferry crossing resumed until the completion of the third bridge in 1864.
The next significant undertaking was the digging of Desborough Cut between 1930 and 1935. The 3/4/mile (1 km) cut took the river on a straight course between Weybridge and Walton on Thames, and avoiding a meandering stretch past Shepperton and Lower Halliford.[30] The cut alleviated flooding in Shepperton[31] and halved the distance of travel on that part of the river.
