Chorleywood station

As of October 2004 almost all Southbound Metropolitan Line trains from Chorleywood into London are fast trains to Baker Street, calling at Rickmansworth, Moor Park, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Wembley Park, Finchley Road and Baker Street. The journey to central London takes around 35?50 minutes depending on the line and time of day. Northbound Metropolitan line trains call at all stations to Amersham.

Rickmansworth station

Until 1961, Rickmansworth station was the changeover point from steam to electric locomotives for Metropolitan Line trains from Aylesbury to London. The electrification was then extended north to Amersham and Chesham, leaving Aylesbury services to be served by British Rail Class 115 diesel multiple unit trains (since replaced by Chiltern Railways Class 165 and Class 168 units). Locomotive hauled trains (steam and electric) on the Metropolitan Line were then replaced by the new trains of A60 and A62 Stock.

Windsor, Berkshire

Most of the current town's streets date from the mid nuts 19th century.[5] However the main street, Peascod Street (pronounced Pes-cod Street) is very ancient. It predates the castle by many years, certainly it formed part of the 10th century parish structure in east Berkshire[citation needed]. In comparison, the 1000 year old royal castle, although the largest and longest occupied in Europe, is a recent development. "New Windsor" was officially renamed "Windsor" in 1974.

Clewer

The name Clewer comes from the word 'Clifwara' meaning 'Cliff-Dwellers' and is named after those who lived below the hill on which Windsor Castle was built. Historically, Clewer pre-dates New Windsor and still exists as a separate ecclesiastical parish. A Saxon settlement existed there, and it is thought that the settlement of Clewer may have grown up at a place where the river Thames could be forded. A wood-and-thatch Saxon church is believed to have existed on the site of the present church. The surviving font is thought to be Saxon, and is presumed to have belonged to the earlier church. Until the 1850s this font was in an improbable position at the west end of the north aisle and it is likely that it had never been moved from its position in the earlier Saxon church.
